Creative Communication Training

Helping scientists communicate with impact

Our creative workshops strengthen communication skills through playful, hands-on methods. Participants experiment, take risks, and discover new ways to share their work with confidence, clarity, and creativity. These workshops can be a great way to support your dissemination commitments in Horizon Europe projects or other work packages.

One of our most innovative programmes is the Stand-Up Comedy Academy for Climate Action, which combines humour and science to engage audiences in global challenges. The Academy covers themes such as Climate Change, Food, Water, Mobility, Artificial Intelligence. It’s not about becoming a comedian – it’s about rethinking how you communicate your work to inspire change.

Ideal for:

l

Scientists, researchers, engineers, and activists seeking confident communication

l

Anyone looking to present technical topics who wants to engage audiences more creatively

l

Teams seeking to combine learning, collaboration, and public engagement

How the Stand-Up Comedy Academy works

Our programme runs for 4 to 8 weeks and follows a structured, hands-on approach:

Z

Call and recruitment

We open a call to recruit a diverse cohort interested in combining humour with scientific communication.

Participants are motivated to communicate their work creatively while engaging with topical societal issues.

Z

Thematic learning and expert sessions

Experts in the academy’s theme (e.g., climate, AI, water) provide seminars,
workshops, film screenings, and playful formats to deepen understanding and inspire creative approaches.

Z

Comedy training and exercises

Participants work with professional stand-up comedians, developing skills in storytelling, timing, presence, and audience connection.

Exercises guide them to develop their own comedy set, blending humour with their scientific expertise.

Z

Performance

The programme culminates in a live show where participants perform their sets.

We create a 3-minute trailer, which participants can keep for future reference

Z

Impact

Together, we analyse the performances to gauge impact, identifying the “a-
ha!” moments

Our impact assessment captures both learning and engagement outcomes

Z

Integration and collaboration

This activity can be part of broader creative engagement tasks, such as in Horizon Europe projects like ROads4all, or included in consortium-based funding applications.

We also provide support for participants and institutions interested in joining future editions of the Academy.

Beyond Stand-Up Comedy, we also offer tailored workshops that help researchers craft their scientific message to help them reach new audiences. Participants learn how to plan presentations, structure papers, and explain their research clearly and compellingly.
