“ The DISSCO team provided a significant ‘activity boost’ to the Energy Lab, tripling our community in one year. Evgenia and her team team pair strategic engagement concepts with meticulous execution, delivering high-impact results with precision and exceptional cost-effectiveness. They have conclusively demonstrated their capability to energize and scale innovative communities.”

What DISSCO stands for
Dissemination
Science and technology are advancing fast – but meaningful dissemination requires making research understandable and accessible to everyone. We create opportunities for people to engage with science directly, ensuring results are shared clearly, thoughtfully and in ways that support mutual learning.
Science
Science shapes our daily lives, and everyone deserves the chance to understand and participate in it. By engaging researchers and the public, we help make science more democratic, inclusive and relevant – supporting scientists to share their work while enabling citizens to participate fully in the discovery process.
Communication
Effective science communication is collaborative. When researchers and the public co-create ideas, knowledge becomes more accessible and more impactful. Our initiatives bring people together to share perspectives, strengthen understanding and support a more informed, responsible society.
Testimonials
Origin & Team
DISSCO began in 2017 with the vision of Evgenia Tsianou, a climate scientist who experienced first-hand how grassroots initiatives can inspire people to shape a more sustainable world. This passion has grown into a mission: to make science more participatory, accessible and democratic.
Today, DISSCO is a Swiss non-profit association dedicated to helping scientists and citizens co-create knowledge and engage meaningfully with research.
Evgenia Tsianou, Science Communicator
Evgenia is the founder and managing director of DISSCO, where she brings a playful, creative approach to making science more participatory. With a background in climate science at ETH Zürich and environmental engineering, she also works as a Science Communicator at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI).
Through DISSCO, Evgenia develops participatory formats rooted in citizen science, storytelling, humour and play, driven by a belief that research becomes stronger when more people can take part.
Her vision is simple but bold: citizen science should become the new standard for research.
Panos Petridis, Project Manager
Panos is an interdisciplinary researcher and project manager. He holds a PhD in Social Ecology, with research spanning island studies, participatory methods and degrowth at BOKU University in Vienna.
Panos has collaborated with international partners and large consortia on projects promoting environmental and social sustainability. A fellow at P2P Lab in Greece, Panos advocates for open, inclusive science that is accessible to all.

Citizen Science
Making science more participatory
We help you design citizen science activities where people can take part in real research. Participants don’t just observe – they collect data, explore questions and collaborate with scientists. For example, Pollen Watch enables people in Switzerland to monitor pollen and air quality, creating.
Storytelling
Turning Research into Inspiring Narratives
We help you reveal the human side of your research through narrative storytelling. Using interviews and sound design, we craft audio stories that connect science with lived experience and societal challenges. Our Water Scarcity Stories series blends oral history, myth and science to show.
Creative Comms Training
Helping scientists communicate with impact
Our creative workshops strengthen your communication skills through playful, hands-on methods. One popular programme is our stand-up comedy academy, where scientists, engineers and activists learn new ways to connect with audiences. Participants receive coaching from comedians before preparing a scrip and performing live. It’s not about becoming a comedian…
Mission-Driven, Bespoke Approach
We strive to democratise science by making it participatory, playful and accessible. Together, we can make citizen science the norm – not the exception.
