EIT Food Journalism Awards

Back to the Roots of Science Communication

The EIT Food Journalism Award recognizes and celebrated journalistic excellence in agrifood innovation and sustainability. Launched in Spain (2019), Italy (2020), and Portugal (2021), and now expanding to Greece in 2025, this national-level prize highlights the vital role of media in promoting healthy habits, amplifying innovation, and fostering public trust in the food system.

DISSO was commissioned to design the concept and deliver the first edition of the Journalism Award in Geece—shaping everything from the award structure and narrative to the jury process and partner engagement. The initiative aligns with DISSCO’s core mission: making science more participatory through creative, inclusive, and often playful formats. Since journalism has long been a cornershtoe of science communication, this project is a joyful retutn to our roots-connecting people to science through compellign stories, credible voices, and shared values.

With prizes of €2,000 for the first place, €1,500 for second, and €750 for third, the award not only supports journalists financially, but also boosts their visibility and recognises their impact. It offers a platform to inspire broader public engagement with sustainable food systems. Through this collaboration, we contribute to a more informed, connected, and sustainable food future.
